Staying in good physical shape is not usually very easy or much fun. However, you must know that it's crucial to remaining healthy. Don't lift weights for longer than one hour. In addition to that, your muscles begin to weaken after one hour of continuous weight lifting. So keep those weight workouts less than 60 minutes.

To stay enthusiastic about your workout routine, change it up often. Changing your routine gives you the opportunity to find new activities and classes that will motivate you to go to the gym. Write down the exercises you do every day. Write down your regular workouts and all other exercise you did during the day. Buy a pedometer that you can use to track how many steps you take each day and include that in your record, also. This written record will prove invaluable in tracking your progress on your fitness journey.

Always test padding on a workout bench before you begin, by pressing firmly with your fingers on the cushion. If you can feel the supports under the padding you should switch machines immediately. Working out on a machine with insufficient padding can lead to bruising because it is failing to provide adequate support during your workout.

A good way to enhance your tennis game or racquetball game is to strengthen your forearms. Start by placing a large sheet of newspaper on a table or some other flat surface. Crumple up the whole sheet of paper in your dominant hand for a half of a minute. You should do this twice before switching hands, doing it once with the non-dominant hand, and then switching back to the dominant hand two more times.

Words matter, so avoid using the words "exercise" or "workout" to describe exercising. Using those terms can make you feel less motivated and excited about exercising. Instead, name the specific activity, such as walking, jogging or cycling.

Many people want to do ab exercises each day. This is not what you should be doing. Your abdominal muscles need a break once in a while. Abdominal workouts should only be done every two or three days.
